Ethiopia_BWhat is your role at Hothouse?

Associate Technical Director

How long have you worked here?

1 ½ years

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

Clothes folder at Baby Gap

What’s the coolest (or most important) trend you see in marketing/advertising today?

Big media is on its way out. I feel like it’s all about the small time, it’s no longer all about getting a TV spot during the Super Bowl. For instance, these days it’s often more effective to work with relevant influencers who your audience trusts, and get them to endorse your product.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me, starts with a stand-up meeting with my tech team where we discuss the status of current projects and establish each team member’s priorities for the day. Then, if I’m lucky, I’ll have a good three-hour stretch sans meetings or interruptions. I use that time to get some development done before regrouping in the afternoon with project teams to discuss strategy, talk to clients and go over status updates.

If Hothouse was a TV show, which character would you be and why?

If Hothouse was Mad Men, I would be Peggy because I am a woman in a male-dominated field (technology), but I am good at what I do, lead a team, and in general kick ass.

What were you like in high school?

I think I am pretty much the same now as I was in high school. I am a bit more responsible, but still down to have a good time. In high school I got voted Most Unique, whatever that’s worth.

Given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

I would like to be Martha Stewart. I love to cook and do anything at the house, and I find it unbelievable that she gets paid to do that everyday.

What’s your favorite movie quote?

“Fat guy in a little coat….Fat guy in a little coat.” – Tommy Boy

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?

I would want to see the pyramids be built in Egypt.

What is the coolest trip you’ve ever been on?

Spent a month in Europe for my honeymoon. We traveled by train, stayed in Airbnb, and didn’t use tour guides. We went from Capri to Naples, Rome, Florence, Venice, and finished in Paris — truly one of my favorite cities in the world.
