When the Atlantic Station marketing team came to Hothouse for support with their renovation campaign, we set out with the goal to create a connection between the community and the property in an effort to make those that live, work, and play within Atlantic Station feel that they are part of the action.

On the heels of designing the barriers that surrounded the park’s construction area, we swiftly launched a park naming competition to invite the city to name the new green space. Through social media posts on Twitter and Facebook and a branded name submission web portal, the 2-month long contest garnered over 400 submissions from all over the metro area and beyond, as well as interest from the media and high levels of social sharing.

Some suggested names like “Mill Park” and “Steel Square” harkened back to the history of the Atlantic Station site, while other suggestions like “Peace Park” or “CommonGround” evoked a place for all.

The final name was chosen by a selection committee in late March and it has been announced that the park will be christened “Atlantic Green” when it debuts in the fall of 2019.
